BHEL's expertise is unmatched in dust precipitation, in utility, industrial boiler including AFBC/CFBC boilers, co-generation plants, pulp and paper mills and for cement and steel industries. BHEL's experience, in dealing with different fuels for varying capacities has provided an extensive library of operating data which enables the most economical design consistent with optimum performance under varying load conditions. Continuing evolution of electrostatic precipitator design has provided ample opportunity to verify design assumptions against operating data, ensuring a high degree of reliability in current design practice.
BHEL has designed precipitators for as low as 20 mg/Nm3 emission rate and as high as 99.96% and above collection efficiency and has already sized ESP's for gas flow rate upto 37,00,000 m3/h.
BHEL has supplied a number of precipitators for retrofit applications and the performance has been quite satisfactory. Innovative approaches have been made for locating precipitators, taking care of restricted area availability, minimum shutdown and optimum performance, together with improved energisation methods like pulse technology.
BHEL has supplied ESPs for wide range of applications viz. Coal, Lignite, Bagasse, rice husk, rice straw, juli-flora and bark fired boilers, soda recovery boilers, kiln and cooler in cement plants, sinter plants, sponge iron and lime kiln applications etc. conforming to various pollution control standards.
BHEL has so far supplied over 900 ESPs with varying capacities . including retrofit ESPs for capacities up to 210 MW units.
