Description :
In HFTC, a high frequency FSK signal is generated and fed to a bonded length of railway track. The level of the signal is monitored. When the track is unoccupied, the signal level maintains the relay in pick up position. Any shorting of the rails by rolling stock alters the level of signal. The change in the level of the signal is detected and used to drop the relay, indicating track occupancy.
