BHEL's ElectraVan is a smokeless, noiseless, oil free battery powered vehicle. ElectraVans' in all other respect are similar to conventional diesel or petrol vehicles, except that it is run by an electric motor, powered by a pack of rechargeable traction batteries positioned in the vehicle itself.
ElectraVan usage is being increasingly favoured to fight the menace of air pollution in urban areas, industries & institutions.
